Categories of VHCF Grants
VHCF grants are concentrated in three broad areas. Only Health Safety Net grants are open for proposals year-round. Applications for RxRelief Virginia and Project Connect grants are solicited through periodic Requests for Proposal.
Health safety net grants -- funding to increase access to primary care for Virginia's uninsured and medically underserved. |
RxRelief Virginia grants -- special funding to help targeted communities establish Medication Access Programs to increase the availability of free or low cost medication for uninsured residents. |
Project Connect grants -- funding for projects in selected communities directed toward increasing the number of children and pregnant women enrolled in state-sponsored health insurance (Medicaid and FAMIS). |
Only Health Safety Net grants are open for proposals year-round (see Grant Guidelines), with funding decisions announced twice each year. Applications for RxRelief Virginia and Project Connect grants are solicited periodically through Requests for Proposal.
