Alumni Achievement Awards
The Alumni Achievement Award recognizes the most exceptional VHCF graduates -- organizations with a commitment to quality and excellence, an entrepreneurial spirit backed by solid business practices and, most importantly, a strong desire to make a lasting difference improving access to health care in their communities.
In prior years, the organization winning this award has received $10,000 made possible by Wachovia. Efforts are underway to continue this tradition in 2009. The award is presented at VHCF's annual Heroes in Health Care event.
VHCF is proud of both the achievements and the sustainability of its current and past grantees. Remarkably, 89 percent of Virginia Health Care Foundation projects continue to deliver at or above the same level of service for at least three years after graduating from VHCF funding.

The Arlington Free Clinic was awarded the 2008 Wachovia Award for VHCF Alumna Achievement and a check for $10,000 from the Wachovia Foundation at the VHCF Heroes in Health Care event May 28, 2008.
Over the past 14 years, the Arlington Free Clinic has been providing a medical home to thousands of area residents. In addition to primary care, it offers physical therapy, mental health services, patient education, access to specialists, a women's clinic and a full-service pharmacy. A graduate of several VHCF grants, the Arlington Free Clinic has won widespread support and commendation, as well as the eternal gratitude of the more than 12,000 patients it has served.
