Without health insurance, children suffer.
Uninsured children lack of regular, preventive medical, dental and vision care -- lapses which can lead to lifelong consequences.
VHCF's Children's Health Insurance Initiative works both in local communities and at the state level to increase enrollment of eligible children in Virginia's state-sponsored health insurance programs, FAMIS and FAMIS Plus.
This commitment to child health has allowed VHCF and its grantees to:
Directly enroll more than 44,000 uninsured children in state sponsored health insurance; |
Lead the private sector component of a statewide effort to dramatically improve enrollment policies and procedures; and |
Become a national leader in child health insurance enrollment and retention efforts. |
VHCF, through its Children's Health Insurance Initiative:
Documents barriers to state programs; |
Advocates for policy and program improvements statewide; and |
Provides training, technical assistance and support to community organizations that provide outreach and enrollment. |
VHCF's Children's Health Insurance Initiative would not be possible without the continued support of its public and private sector partners who have been instrumental to building a network that works for children and families across Virginia.
