The Virginia Health Care Foundation hosts two major events each year, Legislative Day and Heroes in Health Care.

Legislative Day

Each year, VHCF, its grantees and supporters gather to thank Virginia’s General Assembly for its support of the Virginia Health Care Foundation and the programs it funds.  During this Legislative Day event in Richmond, Delegates, Senators and key staff are updated on the many ways VHCF grantees and partners are helping Virginia's uninsured and medically underserved obtain the primary health care they need.

Heroes in Health Care:  People Choosing to Make a Difference

The annual Heroes in Health Care award ceremony recognizes individuals and organizations who have made extraordinary efforts to help Virginia’s uninsured receive the care they need.   Read about the exceptional winners of VHCF's 2008 Heroes in Health Care awards:

Unsung Hero Awards Unsung Heroes are role models who have provided excellent service, commitment and dedication to one of the Virginia Health Care Foundation's funded projects.  Projects nominate outstanding individuals or teams; the winners are chosen by a prestigious panel of judges.

Awardees in each of the following categories receive both recognition at the Heroes in Health Care event as well as a $2,000 check to their project, courtesy of the Virginia Association of Health Plans.

You “Rx”ceptional:  This award recognizes a Patient Assistance Coordinator or Medication Assistance Caseworker who has shown exceptional commitment providing prescription assistance to uninsured Virginians by using VHCF's The Pharmacy Connection (TPC) software.   In addition to recognizing individuals for their contributions, pharmaceutical companies who have contributed greatly to improving access to prescription medications via TPC also have been recognized with a You "Rx"Ceptional award.

Partner awards:  Recognition is given at the event to VHCF's many public and private sector partners, without whom the Foundation's work could not continue.
